So folks...here's the deal. I managed to put on a "winter coat" starting in Sept '04 or so and my winter coat has become more like something one would wear to in the middle of the frozen tundra. About 25lbs worth of winter coat! YUCK!!!
My new plan is to start eating healthy as of Mon, Jan 31, 2005. I am going to get at least 4 days of exercise in a week. I'd like to start running again, but I need to drop a few pounds first. My plan is to walk for the first few weeks and then work my way up to jogging.
I reconsidered the triathlon thing, but I just dont have the time and resources to put into it for now. Maybe that will be my new thing when I start residency. My goal is to find a 5K in about 2 months to run in and hopefully work my way up to a 10K for my graduation gift to myself in mid-May. We shall see.
I've enjoyed my several months of good eats and way too many treats, but when I can't fit into any of my pants and the seats on the airplane are more comfortable with the armrests up, I know it has gotten out of hand. And it makes it worse when I have friends that make it to the gym on a regular basis, run a billion miles a week, lift massive weights like they are lifesavers on a toothpick and all I can say I did was sit on my spreading butt and ate another donut whose sweet taste had to be offset by half a bag of chips which of course needed to be washed down with a homebrewed beer. What has happened to me? I feel like I dont even fit in with my active friends anymore. I dont like even being around them. I am the token 'fat friend'.
Anyway, my goal is to be able to fit into my 'not as fat jeans' by graduation time. That means I need to drop about 35lbs by May 23rd.
I can do it. I just need to get myself motivated and if I can get through the next week, I think I will be ok.
This is one time I won't mind being called a loser. So...Let the losing begin.

Go Tamieka Go! Go Tamieka Go! Any future visits to the Hyland house will NOT include Jason-food. Just Dianna-food. Promise.
And lots of hiking and dog walking.
No fair beating yourself up...the right frame of mind is to get moving again. Think about fueling your metabolism by incorporating a run-walk routine. In the same workout do sets of walking/running/walking. If the mood hits you, incorporate light weights (no need to go to the gym, use juice cans, gallon water bottles, etc.). You can always take-up belly dancing…I hear it works up a sweat.
A loser……not unless you are talking about how the pounds are going to melt off!!
Love Ya,
Aunt Viv
